Week 24 Review

Writing: Students practiced writing complex sentences. They began drafting their argument essays – should chocolate milk be served in school?

Social Studies: Students learned about the stock market crash of 1929 and the rush on the banks. They also made observations of Great Depression photos and then wrote a poem from the perspective of someone at that time.

Reading: Students began analyzing the bias and spin of different articles. We are learning the importance of reading multiple sources and accounts before drawing our own conclusions about an event or topic.

Week 25 Preview

Writing: Students will continue their study of complex sentences. They will add to their argument drafts by adding their own analysis of information from sources as well as counterclaims and rebuttals.

Social Studies: Students will continue learning about the Great Depression, specifically the role of soup kitchens and Hoovervilles.

Reading: Students will continue to analyze multiple accounts of the same topic. We will also continue with book clubs, and students will receive a new list of vocabulary words.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
